The client sought to gain a sense of informality and ultimately to convert this mid-century house into a comfortable ranch home. As a winter home, to be used during Palm Springs' "cool" season, the client requested that there be a seamless relationship between the indoors and outdoors. The home was completely reorganized in order to gain larger, more casual spaces. With careful treatment of materials, the scale of the new rooms was brought to a comfortable level. Along with the interior, the landscape was completely rethought in order to create an oasis within the courtyard setting.
